Up for auction in Aachen Germany , not far from where Tim used to live (iirc) we have the mighty Leitz Elvar.(E.Leitz VARiable mag) I have only seen ONE of these in person and in fifteen years of watching ebay like a hawk this is maybe the third one I have seen.
It looks like a really nice one and has a photo adapter tube. Notice there are already thirty bids on it. These rare beauties have the same kind of image snap that WILD scopes do. It would be very easy to mount on a gemological base since it has a post style mount.
The only reason I am not bidding on it is that I have too many stereos around here already. However I would be pleased to add it to the collection if somebody wants to buy it for me. Failing that someone should buy it for themself. Absolutely great and rare scope. Top tier research grade. Too expensive for them to keep building. Tim if you still live near Aachen I command you to go look at it.
Nice find but I just picked up yet another Wild today. A pristine binocular M11 with photoequipment as well as macro accessory. A whole bunch of oculars, objectives and other goodies all of Wild make. Have to go through it all tomorrow. Drove 600 kms today
