GIA refractometers are $925 new I don't remember the exact price on the light source but they were something like $300. A lot of money for a tungsten lamp and an interference filter. Of course that being a quality made in USA item , they don't have it anymore. They now sell a yellow LED light source for $98. The hand spectroscope was three or four hundred dollars. I think it's a Meiji which GIA used to sell. But not worth more than an OPL at about $100. GIA now sells something that looks like an OPL for $115.
The stuff looks pretty new and is not too delicate so it probably was an OK buy. But pretty high price paid IMHO.
