There have been several discussions on measuring Specific Gravity. Alan F. mentioned that he had built the equipment to perform the measurement. He did not have a scanner so he sent me his sketches and I scanned them. He included a chart with the density of water. The only edit that I made to his sketches was to add a Degree F to the chart.
I will add the jpgs now. I tried to make a PDF but it is to big, at 4xx k. So I will have to split it up into 2 pdf docs and add it in a day or two. I hope that the jpgs will work for now.
If someone has time they can redo the sketches in a different format. I would like to say that I would do it, but I am not sure when I would get to it.
I cleaned up my ingur account and deleted the images..... sorry
I hope people can see these, sometimes images do not show up on my browser.
I will work on he PDF later this evening.

The balances used to weigh gemstones and measure S.G. are indeed balances. Scales are used at the grocery to weigh out Bologna and at the scrapyard to weigh scrap metal.
