That would be my stone on ebay. Thanks for the positive input on my honesty! I actually put up an "ugly tourmaline" in an ebay auction about a year ago too. I figure somebody has to be different and give honest descriptions of stones, which I always do to the best of my ability, though it is fairly rare on ebay!

Goodness!! Of all deliberate bad publicity, this is the funniest bit yet... it does make you feel sorry for the poor sapphire chap
"Personally, I think it was bad enough that I had to spend hours cutting it. I shouldn't have to keep encountering it in my safe when I'm looking for other stones" ROFL!
It looks like a couple of folks want to see for themselves how bad that can be (5 bids)

Sometimes, I think that honesty and a sense of humour is worth much more than "fabulous" "spectacular" "awesome" and all of the other superlatives that you see so often on Ebay.
n00b, I remember a thread ages ago about someone who had listed "ugly green tourmaline" and a few other "ugly" stones that they were trying to get rid of.

I think that was new member/excellent cutter Daniel who posted above about the earlier tourmaline. At least he's the only one I've seen actually put ugly in the title on eBay.

Heck, one of those bidders is me! As far as I'm concerned, an eye clean, untreated, well-cut 1.12 carat sapphire is worth at least $24, even in that color.
I looked at Daniels site. I must say that I am very disappointed and shocked: disappointed with every photo that I ever took; shocked that the photos have not been unfairly retouched and, yet, exhibit such beauty!
Daniels work is exactly what I wish mine approached. You can bet that I will have one of his soon, banking that the quality received is the same as see'd (excuse the license).

Now I'm peeved. noob, you're not allowed to bid on the ugly sapphire unless you're willing to sell the slightly pink/peach red 5.45 garnet you stole from Gene.

Heh, I'm going to have Gene's garnet (well, I suppose it's not his anymore...) made into a pendant for Christmas... either for my mother or my fianceé... we'll have to see who it would look best on once it's done.

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the positive input on my stones, photos and honesty. I never could figure out the bright side of misrepresenting stones, then having them all returned and losing all the customers that could have become "regulars". I guess some people make their living on non-refundable shipping and handling charges...selling the same stone over and over and over. Hopefully one day they will be on the list at the Department of Extinct Species and I won't be.
Oh, and in case anyone's interested, the 1.12 carat ugly green sapphire went on ebay for $37.36 At lease a few people got a good laugh out of it, which I'm sure was worth more than the sale price!
Thank you all again! It really brightened up my morning to read all these posts.
