I don't have a good setup to measure SG, and I don't really have the time to set one up and test it to make sure it's giving good results.

Since Gem ID is the first step, it is my belief that if an individual cannot accurately measure SG, one can hardly claim to be a gemologist. Perhaps, such individuals should simply buy a Raman with a readout and admit basic GEM ID is a waste of time and money, since all they want is that Name. :)

If you would care to give me your mailing address, I will send you (free) a simple setup to solve your problem.

Well, I've certainly never claimed to be a gemologist. I'm a geologist who just likes gems a lot. ID is usually not a big problem for me. But I'd never say no to free stuff, especially such cool free stuff. I'll send you my address in a PM, with my thanks!

Both Steve and I have some rough (mine should be on the way soon). I think Steve might have sent his out for cutting already, but we might be able to get more. Send him a PM or FB message?

We just got our first few stones back from the cutter--it is every bit as uncanny as one would hope for. You can see in the first picture it actually casts an anti-shadow thanks to its fluorescence.
