Hello,

Does anyone recognize this stone? The color is similar to canned peas. They measure about .75" long. I got these at the Tucson show but forgot what they are. Now that I've made them into jewelry I need to ID it.

Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the stones juki, but the setting, and especially the claws, look like a recipe for disaster!

Juki, is there no additional information that you can supply?
Hardness, cleavage, specific gravity, solubility to acids?

To recap:
CSI: Colored Stone Identification
Have a gem you need help identifying? Post it here, provided you can give us more information than just a picture: RI, SG, Optic Character, Pleochroism, etc.

You're not getting a lot of responses because it's showing a pretty odd crystal form. From color and time context alone I might guess that it's some of that new find of green kyanite, but that crystal form is wonky.

You're not getting a lot of responses because there is no empirical data to aid in identification.

As Barbra says, more information is required for a serious identification of an unknown. A good image demonstrating distinctive crystal form is sometimes sufficient for a tentative but relatively solid identification, but in this case that isn't helping.

Scarodactyl is spot on!
Hardness, SG, Solubility with acid, better pics showing definitive cleavage or fracture?
Throw us a bone, man. :D

I appreciate all the effort!

Sorry I don't have a bone to throw because I don't know those aspects of gemstones I wasn't sure a gem site was a hopeful place to id this stone. I think I need to find a mineral site for identifying this stone. If I do find out I will come back and post it here.

Thanks again for responding.

This would be a wild guess just from those pics, but does the name "stilbite" rings a bell? I'm fishing for something like: "Ahhhh, the vendor said something similar to that!". Or not. ;)

I do have and make rings out of stilbite. Pictured below is one of them.

These were in bins and they were marked. I just have a blank out as I seem to have more and more. Most of the time the lost info never comes back.

Are these rings hinged?
How are you making them?
They really have an ancient look about them, no?
