The database, as I understand it, is an upload from RRUFF... The most awesome database there is for raman and photoluminescent spectra.
well, actually the RRUFF database is only a secondary option for the GemmoRaman user. Despite its the most complete resource for minerals available, that is not a proper "gemological" DB. Despite few exceptions it doesn't contain, in fact, data about synthetics and treated gems. We have our own proprietary Database which started with less than 300 spectra and, after 5 years raised to close to 800 of the 67th release. Btw, next week we will have a new release with some more weird stuff. Despite the RRUFF material is free of use, it cannot be "uploaded" in any commercial software . The RRUFF developed a small simple freeware called Cristalsleuth ( http://rruff.info/about/about_download.php) which allow the user to upload his own spectra and search/compare them with the RRUFF db. what we have done is to provide our software by a function which can directly convert the spectra taken with the GemmoRaman and upload them in the Cristalsleuth software by a simple mouse click . For checking if the GemmoRaman DB is up to date you need to click on the "Settings" menu and then "Check for online library updates". if your installed version is not the last one, a pop up menu will ask if you want to download and install the latest....
