Hello,

First time posting here, thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

I picked this up recently, I assume it is a doublet opal? Any help you can give me as to the origin and or value would be great. I know it's not worth much at all but any help you can provide is appreciated.

It's really difficult to tell much from your images -- sorry. It has the appearance of Queensland boulder opal but your side view raises suspicions it's a doublet, as you guessed. I can't enlarge the image enough to tell if there's an obvious indication of an adhesive between the opal and ironstone layers. You might try to determine that with magnification. I've seen some very well made boulder opal doublets.

If it's a natural boulder opal it would have a much higher value than an assembled stone but the quality of the opal layer isn't high as boulder opals go.
