Ganoksin is a good suggestion. While you're there, you might want to subscribe to their Orchid mailing list. Mostly professional jewelers, but they are tolerant of interested amateurs.

Hi Robin, you may have sorted your problem with claws/prongs, but I was recently at a demonstration at my tool dealer by the "Busch" rep. He was showing some really neat cup burrs, reference 411CCC and 411 TC. They come in a wide variety of sizes and really work well, cutting a prong into a very clean hemisphere. Quite cheap if you only need a couple and well worth looking at if you are still having trouble.
