I second that; don't heat. What do you hope to accomplish by heating? Color looks pretty good as-is.

Also, there seems to be a feather along the center (or is it an odd reflection?). Heating may cause that one to expand.

BTW -- where is this stone from?

Well they look fine red in the daylight but dark red in indoor lights..so I presumed that they can be heated to get the fine red out..

@Pt: its India origin

I'll post more pics in a while

The feather looks like a surface breaking fracture on my monitor.

Well, that's the trouble with guessing based on pics alone. If you're confident that the feather won't expand in the wrong direction, it may be worth heating.

Let us know if you go for it & how it turns out. Like many others around here, I rather like before & after pics.

It would be adviceable to split te stone along the fracture to make two stones from it.

I was just about to post the same advice. Then see if it passes the white paper test. If it does, cut it as it is. There is always a good premium these days for unheated rubies. That is, I think there is, but I am as of yet to sell one. :)

Hi Meher ,

Thanks for the answer !
I'm used to deepen the points of which I'm not sure ... even it seems sometimes naive ;)

Now , in light of your information , I think that this splendid rough don't merit to be heated .
