Was wondering if anyone has seen a purple sapphire that changes to silver with just a hint of green sometimes? Well, now I have to edit this post because I had time to see this sapphire in all lighting and it is amazing. Under incandescent light it is a dark purple, then when you go out of that light it changes to silver. I then took it out in sun light where at first I thought it would remain silver. Well, when you get into cloudy light it turns green and at one point when I tipped it in sun light it turned blue. I could not believe it....very unusual! Completely natural....not heated. I guess now my question would be is this considered the alexandrite effect still or only if it goes from purple to just green?
Not easy to follow your description as it seems to have a lot of different ways of looking, but... I have seen Songea sapphires with strange color shifts and color changes so it could be possible. Most times they do not have all colors really pleasant. Any images?
