I just got this email, not sure if this has been posted here or not. I actually stopped getting the magazine about a year or so ago. Felt there just wasn't much in it any more.

Dear Colored Stone Advertiser,

After lengthy consideration, we have decided to cease publication of Colored Stone magazine. The final issue of the bimonthly, international trade magazine for the colored gemstone industry will be the January 2010 issue.

The decision to stop publication of the magazine and its website is driven entirely by the economy. The gem and jewelry market has been impacted by the global recession more severely than any of our other categories, and this economic market will not support our business expectations.

With this move, Editor David Federman will leave Interweave. We're proud of what David Federman and his team have accomplished over the last two years and wish him well. Managing Editor, Karla Rosenbusch, will remain with Interweave and will continue to work on the Tucson Show Guide as well as a number of other properties in Interweave’s Jewelry group.

Making this move allows us to better focus on building and growing the brands that remain in our portfolio and making the best use of the skills and talents of our staff.

Best regards,
David

Well that sucks - I thought they were going to continue publishing it as a digital only magazine?

I just renewed a subscription... I've only gotten one issue. I hope this means I will be getting a refund...

Didn't they get sued? Where does this leave the lawsuit?

Ok, lets make a list of publications that will still be available (stick with me as the ambien is kicking in)

1. Rock and Gem G&G (tks Alberto)
2 Lapidary Journal

Please chime in with other selections! time for bed now, damn that stuff works great on an empty stomache.

They were part of that suit brought by DSN against Robert James. Colored Stone may have settled, though. I haven't seen them mentioned in any of it.

I have the subscription until September 2010.

I called several of the contact numbers, and heard all the numbers are no longer in use. I e-mailed, and got an automated reply showing “The last issue of CSN will be Jan/Feb 2010. Further information will be provided at a later date.”

I had a subscription to CS but let it lapse as its content was not relevant to my interests and pursuits.

Sadly, this is true of LJ as well. I had subscribed to that since the '70's, but they have to follow their market's interests, and that shuts me out.

For me, R&G is the only game in town left. Lapidary is only one small corner of this forum and I am sure a lot of people in other areas will miss CS.

All,

The new ICA magazine, In Color, edited by Jean Claude Michilieu has made a fairly ambitious start. You can read the e.version online at www.gemstone.org

Best,
