That's very impressive - can you tell us about it?

I'll always remember your grandfather fondly. I became friends with your grandfather, "Pak Han" in 1991. We actually met on a mikrolet in Malang where I was living at the time. He invited me to his house on Jln. S----, where he brought out new pieces to show me on each visit. Your grandfather had a great collection of precious stones and artifacts. I am glad you inherited the Nature's Crown piece from him. I am curious what ever became of the Balinese (kraton) crown jewels he had owned? There were many other great artifacts as well. Your grandmother was a kind person as well

Anyway, I'd love to hear from you. BTW keluarga masih tinggal di kota Malang? I am curious about his younger brother who played old-style Hawaiian music? Saya bisa berbicara BHS INA...so you can write back in either English or Indonesia.

Hormat,

Art Poirier

This is a piece from a wonderful collection of Mr. Han Sam Kay, now deceased. The inclusion in the centerpiece of smoky quartz had the appearance of a crown at 30 to 90 cm under natural light. The piece had been exhibited overseas, notably at a Guinness [Book of World Records] show.

Mr. Han's holdings from Indonesia were spectacular to say the least. He was already very old when I had met him as a 19 y.o. We became acquainted in a cramped mikrolet (extra mini-bus) in city of East Java. He had started the conversation inquiring about the "ruby" stone in my ring. I asked him about the "stone" in his ring, which turned out to be an actual polished tiger's claw.

After inviting me to his home, he showed me his outstanding collection of pieces from around the world. I cemented the friendship, giving him a very nice watermelon tourmaline. I would visit Mr. Han often, discussing his collection of semi and precious stones, jewelry, and other artifacts was astonishing. His book, "Rahasia Batu Permata," has many pictures from his personal collection. Many editions of this book were printed, unfortunately for English speakers, none in English. Mr. Han gave me a picture card of the Nature Crown Jewel, which shows the "crown" inclusion in much greater clarity. Perhaps I could post it, if there is any interest?
