I noticed that facters.com has been down for the last couple of days. I'm hoping it's temporary, but I'm worried that it's down for good. There was a lot of great information on that site, it would be a shame if it disappeared. It was a really valuable resource for me as a self-taught hobby cutter.

Does anyone know who has been paying the bills on the site and if they have given up on it? Does anyone have the free designs saved anywhere accessible?

I would be happy to chip in on domain fees if someone wants to pass the hat.

Nothing is ever lost or forgotten on the internet.

http://web.archive.org/web/20110725081342/http://www.faceters.com/

Using the Internet Wayback Machine you can still see most of that website. This works on almost any website and you can find all sorts of things that have dropped off the web.

If that goes down too I've archived all the free patterns a while ago.

Whoa, cool. Still it's a shame that new cutters won't be able to easily access all of the great stuff on there.

I archived a copy of the site just in case this was going to happen too.

I have always used the search function on faceters.com to search Jeff's designs for say a rectangle with an RI of 1.7 -1.799 with a 96 index gear.

If the site does not come back up, does the archived versions some of you have saved still function for searching the designs or is there another way to do it.

Harold

It has certainly been a very useful site and kind of a celebration of Jeff Graham`s work as well! Would be sad if it had gone forever!

Some of Jeff Graham's designs are searchable on the Bob's Rock Shop site, http://www.rockhounds.com/rockshop/gem_designs/design_index.shtml

I think most or all of the free ones are available there, but the others have broken links to facetors.com. Many other designs are cataloged on the site, but a lot of links don't work.

That site should stay up if only as a testament to Jeff and how helpful he was to the faceting community as a whole.
