I bought this rock at a Rock Show a while back. The seller told me that he got this agate in the Cadiz Mountains located in the Mojave Desert, CA. I just broke apart some of this agate to get ready to tumble it. In the center, there are cyrstals, kind of like a geode. Can anyone identify this rock for me and I'm assuming I shouldn't tumble it now? Your answers are appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like a geode which is a crystal filled vug, surrounded with agate as they usually are, purported to be from the Cadiz Mountains located in the Mojave Desert, CA. I know this sounds like I'm being a smart ass, but that's exactly what I think it is.
Barbara beat me to it on the identification. But anyway, I think tumbling it would decrease the value, since you'd lose the nice crystal faces, but it's not a terribly valuable piece to start with (though it does look nice). I would keep it as-is.
Thanks so much. After I looked up Geode, I felt stupid for even asking the question. I figured it out after I posted. Thanks for the advice. I won't tumble it. It is very pretty in person. Don't you just love us newbies?

We actually do love the new members who are honestly looking for information and appreciate when they get it. Welcome, and keep us abreast of your tumbling successes.
An agate with a cavity lined with quartz crystals. Very common, yet pretty, and educational as well, displaying both crystalline and cryptocrystalline forms of quartz, SiO2.
