Re: Off the dop - post YOUR latest creation
Here's a new 3.28 CT topaz cut in a modified round brillant, with small but interesting frosted arrows which I thought would maybe give an interesting effect when viewed by loupe.

Re: Off the dop - post YOUR latest creation
Thank you, I appreciate it. Here is a new stone, a small 1.10ct spinel.
I really like these small stones better, it's challenging to add many facets on small gems, yet keeping them "alive" in the sense that they still have decent sparkle (living in Switzerland, and having worked for suppliers that ...

Re: Off the dop - post YOUR latest creation
And here's a newly cut gem. I went back to basics on an amethyst (for some reason I never had cut much quartz before, if any at all) with a standard round brillant and ended with a 3.72 CT.
The result is decent but meetpoints are a little off.

And I saw the format I posted the pictures are not viewable by everyone, so thanks to Barbara I figured a way of posting them better.. My apologies for my mistake.
Here are the stones in order and an additional one which is a 1.37ct tourmaline cut in the "Diamond descent" diagram.. For some reason ...

Re: Distinguishing naturally coloured blue green diamond and artificially irradiated greens
Thank you very much.
I stumbled on a 0.47 ct diamond with an undetermined colour origin certificate (GIA) so I was getting curious about the processes of natural irradiation and what could separate them from artificial irradiation.
I found very interesting the study and graphics on the depth at ...

Re: Off the dop - post YOUR latest creation
I tried concave facetting for the first time. It's not easy.
I have wondered about the difference in difficulty - are you using the Ultratech machine with a V5 mast?
These are beautiful though, I love the reflection pattern of that aquamarine! Can't wait to see more.
Thank you for your ...

Re: Posted Pictures
\Hello, I am having small problems posting pictures with the old standard [img] way. Is there any other way to get the pictures online or should I send them to the address mentioned in the previous post?
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: Off the dop - post YOUR latest creation
I tried concave facetting for the first time. It's not easy.
I had troubles with the polishing of concave facets on the first stone (aquamarine, 1.81ct) and the second stone had a corner that broke (topaz, 2.71ct).
I was getting much more comfortable on standard facet cutting.

Distinguishing naturally coloured blue green diamond and artificially irradiated greens
Hello,
I wanted to know if any advances with laboratory equipment can help and tell if a blue green or green diamond has had its colour irradiated naturally or artificially, providing we can determine a type which could imply the diamond is natural (let's say it would be type IIa natural stone for ...

They updated their website to something a little more sophisticated. They also update it regularly with interesting publications quite regularly.

Concerning concave facetting
Hello,
I haven't posted here for a while but I had a small question. I tried concave faceting for the first time and, well I found it hard to be precise despite having cut stones beforehand.
The machinery is by all means superior in terms of precision, but the rigidity of switching the mast and ...
