One time only, I want to let everyone know that the new edition of the Jewelry Appraisal Handbook is now available. There is a new section on Chain Styles (everyone's had the deal where you weren't sure what to call it). We've updated the Web Links Project (live in the PDF version), which is chock full of important resources on the Internet. And there is new, current data about Retail Markups, drawn from two sources: the annual Jewelers of America Cost of Doing Business Survey, and the Edge Retail Academy Superstore Pool. This is invaluable general knowledge for the practicing jewelry appraiser to have.
And if that isn't enough (hey, someone out there may still need convincing), Al Gilbertson and Dr. Jim Shigley, both of GIA, have developed a primer on the nine most important advanced instruments in use today in research gemological laboratories. Having this information makes you better able to serve your clients and customers, no matter what part of the jewelry business you're in.
All this, in addition to the vital stuff that was already there. I've attached the Table of Contents for your perusal, as well as a press release with links that will take you to the American Society of Appraisers pages where you can buy the Handbook. Finally, if you act by Wednesday, you will take advantage of the old prices that are due to go up the next day...Scott
