Interesting.
In order to value anything, one must have comps to base their value on.
Research, research research

Hashim, you were given some tools to determine that yourself.
If you read what is written below this part of the forum:

Appraiser's Corner
A section for Professional Appraisers and Valuers to discuss relevant topics.
DO NOT POST JEWELRY OR GEMS NEEDING AN APPRAISAL.

This is very fine material and I have never seen it available for cheap. I'd estimate 100/ct as the ballpark of what I have seen noce stones available at. It is a fine and unique stone, so if you don't need money in a hurry put it up for a lot. Rarities often sell slowly so it might as well sell slowly at a healthy price point.

No worries Hashim.

This is a learning platform. I would rather show you how a relative value would be determined rather than just throw out a random number.

Stephen's assessment is a good one. Why? Because of his industry experience and knowing where to find some solid examples of similar material to base his value on. (I might have gone a wee bit higher)

I stand with my original advice: research, research, research. That is the only way to develop the experience you need to make wise buys and wise sales.

I looked at the ebay links, and the material ranges a lot in price.
I know that in diamonds it is the 3cs for value.
I would like to know why this particular stone is on gthe 100/ct + range.

The one in this post looks much clearer than most on ebay, I assume that that is what is providing most of the value.

(since I seem many on ebay in this size range, and there were plenty with the star, but not many that ere clear)

As does the quality, carat weight, etc.

Diamonds are a common commodity. Finding comps are not a problem

Looking at the finer quality samples, they seem to hover around $100-$200/carat. It would be next to impossible to find an exact match for comparison...it would certainly involve stumbling on an unlikely window of opportunity. Therefore, one must research several markets and make an educated evaluation. The actual value of the stone will be determined when it is sold.

Yes...the quality of this one appears better judging only from the photo.
