Hello

I am struggling with the task to understand the value of river jade pebbles. It's obviously a combination or shape, weight and color but after doing my research i often fail to understand the difference between 300$ and 1500$ pieces. Can someone point me on a web source with prices i can use for reference? Some articles to educate myself? Can i trust Ebay prices? It would be great to receive any advice.

And besides that, what do you think about pebbles on photos?

Thank you for your time )

Hello Jademan ,

I like river pebbles; I can not go near a river without being attracted by some ... and I filled my pockets!
I particularly like the last one on your photos.
Where do you find them? Have you checked that they are indeed Jade pebbles? If so, Nephrite I think.
As for their value, I have no idea: as it is, it has what we want to give them. They should be valued

Good fishing !

Where is their origin? If you know, check that area for locals who collect and or sell similar sizes and quality to yours. If they are of the western US then there is a large online community of artisans of Big Sir Jade and British Columbia, CA.

Most of the river jade deposits I know of are Nephrite Jade, and so are very low in value.

The expensive ones are Jadeite Jade, but really only come from Burma.

Where are yours from?

They are nephrite jade indeed and i bough them to cut them and make jewelry pieces from them. The problem is, some of my colleagues want me to sell them some for their collections and i have no idea how to price them. I purchased 5 kilos of pebbles for a somewhat "going out of business price" so i can't tell which ones are more collectable. I need them because clients love when the source material was from the river. If i shall sell some as is, i don't know.

Those are Siberian jades my good Sir. Frankly, it's extremely hard to get them now-days as Chinese dealers are practically wrestling each good piece of jade right from the miner's hands in Siberia. And as you can read in my previous message, i need them myself for a jewelry making purpose. I am just not sure if i should cut them all.

Mine are Siberian jade. And yes, river jadeite is rare in Russia. I got few pieces of jadeite from the river once but they were not good and not polished by water at all.

This post has gone in all different directions. As a long time seller on ebay, I would not take eBay as a prime place for evaluation. You can research sold items on eBay to get a sense, but even that is schetchy. But then your going to cut them for jewelry so does it matter? Anything you get above cost needs to be considered if your really looking to sell off any. Looking at them I would not offer more than 15-20$ a pound, and that would be based on a physical inspection to see how bad the staining runs through the material. That doesn't mean there is any interest, as we have plenty of nephrite Jade handy.

Yes, they looked like the Siberian Nephrite I have seen before.

I don't deal in Jade so I have no advice on value.

I wish you the best!
