Hi! My grandmother found this in the yard when she moved into her house many years ago, and my aunt has it now. I am by no means a serious collector, but I love looking at pretty mineral collections but I've never come across anything like it. We were wondering what it is and if it is valuable. All the information I have is that it will scratch a kitchen knife.

Goldfish cracker for scale :)

Thanks,
Chroe

Unlikely to be jade as it appears to have a conchoidal fracture, probably slag glass.
Will it scratch hardened steel like a file?
