Hi everyone! It's that time of year again.
Who will be at Tucson, and when? Barbra, is this the year of your long-awaited return?
Last year's dinner was at Casa Valencia and I think it went really well.

I am having a big surgery the middle of January with expected recovery of up to three Months, so I am doubtful on going to Tucson.

The 6th would be best for me.

Unfortunately my surgery that was scheduled for the 8th of January got postponed until the 29th of January. Now there is absolutely no way I can travel during the Tucson show. Have fun everyone!

OK, let's go ahead and say the 6th at 7pm. Casa Valencia was a good venue last year I think--it has good Mexican food and seafood.
Sorry you won't be there Steve! It will definitely be a smaller group than sometimes.

It seems that gems have taken the back burner this year. Much less posts on here and other sites.
I'll be in Tucson this year, but I'm gone home before the dinner, but I'll see you at 22nd street Stephen. Hopefully the temperatures warm up from where they are now in Tucson.

I am coming into Tucson on the 6th, If the dinner is open to the group and I can get over to the restaurant, If you see someone wandering around the tables, it may be me looking for you! OR will someone have a hat on or some other clue for the group !! :P

Otherwise, is anyone going to be at a show booth so I can stop by and say hi?

So far, the new find of pezzotaite and Nigerian emeralds with rings of color have been the prominent new things I have seen. Both very expensive.

Another one of the new stones in Tucson are these pinkish garnets from Tanga. People are calling the "Rose Garnet" or "Tanga Garnet". I imagine they are a lighter tone rhodolite. I'll post some pictures of some rough later on.

The pieces I saw at JOGS were kind of cool, included, deep color, 500-600/g.
