here at work, we have a dc 3000. it's great - always spot on. it predates my time here which is about 7.5 years and we haven't had a problem yet. "we" bought it around 2001, used.
The 2000 and the 3000 seem to be physically identical with only software differences and different color paint work. I had one 2000 go through here that was spot on and I believe still is.
I have just purchased the DC 2000 used and it arrived today.
Unfortunately, It doesnt have a manual or any sort of guide.
Can I ask that someone please also send me a copy of the manual from this forum?
Also, if anyone is particularly proficient with using these machines that could help me. The machine warms up and says it is ready to test a gem, but when I press the execute button I receive the error "TEMP CHANGE, Perform Dark Calibration"
I am afraid I may be having some technical difficulties. When I try to run a Dark Calibration or Set Integration, I hold the CAL button as instructed by the machine, however the screen does not change.
It seems as though it doesnt recognize that I am pushing the button. Is this a fixable issue or perhaps this would be a better question for the repair forum regarding this DC 2000 machine.
I may be able to help you. I have found that about 50 % of the units are repairable, perhaps a little less. They are getting long in tooth and there is no support whatsoever from Sarine who bought the product line to close it. They also no longer sell the replacement unit the Colibri which was not very good from what I heard multiple times.
I cannot take a new project right at this moment but probably in two or three months would be willing to take a look at it. Semd me a pm and we can discuss it. What repair forum do you refer to?
Thank you for the offering. I am not to familiar with the different forums, nor do I have enough posts for DMS just yet.
I only found GemologyOnline in my search for information regarding this DC 2000.
From the sound of the issue, do you believe that there is something faulty with the machine other than user error? Or is there any possible simple fixes that you can recommend we try in the time until you are free?
It is not pilot error. There are a series of things that need to be looked at , checked and possibly modified and replaced. With the error you are getting there is nothing you can do from the units control panel ro make it work. It can be a software or hardware issue. I have seen a couple of units where it was both. You correct the software problem and it reveals the hardware problem "next" as the software goes through its steps. There are a couple of hw problems that can be fixed but the unit is contained on two circuit boards one of which does very little (display and buttons) If the main board is physically ill ,there is not much that can be done.
Your unit may be recoverable. All the ones that I could not repair had the dreaded "Not enough Light" error even when shining a bright light directly into the sensor port. If you bought it on ebay you can get a refund no matter what the seller says or said in the aucion. That would probably be the wisest course of action.
Anyone could help me please. My Gran DC 2000 suddenly shows an error saying "Signal too low to measure". Do anyone here knows what it is and if possible help me to fix it. I didn't have the user manual and im trying to find one also.
