Post subject:  Wild/Leica Question

Hallo,
As far as i know it was Leica who Took over the Microscopes-Line from Wild/Heerbrugg.If so :is the Leica MZ8 the equivalent to the Former M8 ??
And how does that compare to a Zeiss Stemi 508 in use as Gemmological Microscope.
Thanks for any advice!

It was the other way round.
Wild acquired 25% shares in Leitz, and finally the remaining Leitz family members sold their holdings to Wild and Wild Leitz was formed.
The formation and final history of Leica microscopes is more tortuous and involves numerous venture capitalists including Cambridge Instruments (US not UK) post 1990.
Its my personal opinion that Wild-Leitz (Leica) went downhill post 1990.
