Post subject: Additional uses for diamond type spotters?

There are many "diamond type spotters" measuring swuv transparency and thus indicating if a diamond might be of a type that is possible to make artificialy. What other purposes can these spotters be used for? Already 40+ years ago Basil Anderson and Norman Day tested flux grown Chatham emeralds and natural emeralds discovering a difference; the synthetics transmitted swuv while the natural ones did not. Are these results still valid?
