LOL.....Texas is kinda in the middle between both of us. But I would be happy too. :D

SG is an excellent 2nd choice....Also you can bring the unknown to your closest Rock Club and ask for assistance.

First I want to say thanks for the equipment that is headed my way. I hope to put it to good use.

I have made the SG setup in the past, and scanned the documents for some folks on another thread. I know that that will help a lot.

I am very active in my local rock club. We have a GIA Certified person as part of the club, who has helped me in the past.

I picked up a reprint on the person who had the facet machine. It was Dr Henry Owens. He was a medical Dr, and he developed the O'Henry cut a Brilliant Barion Highlight . It was featured in the Lapidary Journal in 1983.

It is an interesting looking facet machine.

We have made 2 trips to try and empty the last storage unit. We keep getting delayed starts, and other problems. The past 2 days we have arrived at 7:30 and he place closes at 8:00.

I hope to finish unloading the storage shed tomorrow.

Then I have to get the shed down and moved, and then e can start the cleanout.

My friend is headed to Pakistan, where he has friends, and he is supposed to be getting a lot of rough. I hope to post some pictures when he gets back.
Then the fun of organizing and cleaning

I am looking forward to putting them to good use.

I an most interested in a set of W. Wm Hanneman gemological tools.I volunteer talking to gem collectors and rock hounds. I have some inexpensive tools as well as being a gemologist for over 50 years. Tests used in other Earth sciences that are not found at GIA or many trade labs'...winstone

I have a couple of 10X loupes, some circular polaroid filters and a coniscope or 2 left.
Everything else was given away.

Know your crystal systems for gemstones. The stone must be transparent. measure the junction angle of inclusions. A simple and cheap method utilizes a clear plastic protractor, white paper, a loupe etc and a bit of measuring of that angle formed when an inclusion is observed butting up to another inclusion in the observed same transparent gemstone.

W. Wm Hanneman is by far far ahead of us in his tests. At 76 years old and a survivor of Septic Shock, over 100 kidney stones, cancer, and a heart attack.... i think it is time for me to SELL MY GEMOLOGICAL LAB EQUIPMENT AT BARGAN PRICES TO FELLOW GO MEMBERS! winstone

Is there still a conoscope available?

When I purchased my polariscope from a retired gemologist, he did not have the conoscope to go with it. I read somewhere a while ago that a loupe could be used as a substitute, but I have been unable to find any useful figures using my loupe instead of a conoscope.
