Hi there!
I'm a newbie i'm afraid, so apologies now if i have posted this in the wrong forum.

I'm looking for any information on or a manual for the GIA Gem instruments spectroscope with light base model number 785.

I have recently bought a secondhand one of these at a very good price. However, the wire is broken on what i think is the light for the wavelength scale. It has a jack plug on one end and a circular bung type thing on the other of two thin wires. This appears to go into the back of the spectroscope. One of the wires has snapped off inside the bung end. and the other is very close to snapping.
Because it is broken very close to the end it is nearly impossible to fix it with a joining clip or even soldering.

Has anyone ever attempted this repair? If so, how did it go? How did you do it?
If not has anyone bought a replacement part? if so where from?
If anyone can help in any way i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanking in advance
Vicky
