(Sidebar: a little reminiscent of the first finds of Tibetan andesine in situ.)

The specimen above appears to have tumble polished stones glued into a host rock

During the years I worked in mining/exploration, I spent time in a nickel mining area of Qld.
Also, I have spent time in a chrysophrase mining area, and have seen lots of really beautiful speciman stone.
Never, though, have I seen anything with nodules of polished material, lodged in matrix.
So, I'm going with it being a piece of "notarealrock".

I believe your photos are legit, Barry....they don't contain tumble polished pebbles.

Barbra - glad you said that, because it looks real to me too. It looks like it used to fill the pocket, but started to dissolve, causing it to loosen from the pocket and then turn into that marble like thing. Color sure looks like chrysoprase, but that really doesn't mean anything.
Since guesses don't cost anything, I am guessing the color is caused by nickel. I saw some nickel corrosion once upon a time that was that color.
