Hello!

I purchased this necklace with a beautiful stone in Santa Monica, CA. The shop owner told me it was an Agate, but I have been unable to discern anything more about it, or find other similar stones to compare it to. It is dark brown with light green markings.

Would love to hear your opinions on what it might be!
Thank you!

Bufff! It is almost impossible to know what kind of stone is just with these two images.

But I can tell that it's not agate. In all likelihood it's a cheap jasper of some sort.

Just looking at the pic, it looks similar to "spiderweb jasper"

Doesn't look like ruby in zoisite on my screen, it looks brown and green; more along the lines of the jasper Marco posted. :|

Looks like a rock with a hole in it to me.

Yes Isi, I've offended too many people lately, so have decided that for the next few days, I'll try to shut up!

Thanks for the replies. I will try to upload a better image. The stone is a brownish red colour with light green markings. I'm a newbie at this stuff so any help is much appreciated!!
