I found this stone years ago as a kid when I was in Montana. I've recently been getting back into rock collecting and I've been trying to identify this stone. The problem is, it visually looks like it could be Quartz or Sapphire. It has a grayish blue translucence, and seems to scratch quartz, but I'm an amateur at figuring these things out. Anyone know what this is or can anyone offer suggestions as to other ways I could identify this?

Density would be the easiest way, probably. That said, its appearance suggests agate rather than sapphire.
