Hello, I have come here seeking advice about a garnet I recently picked up. It is oddly shaped and I don't know if there is much that can be done with it. I do want to make it into something for a significant person, though, and any advice would be helpful. One thing I should let you know is that I have resources limited to what you would generally find in a woodshop, and I also have the motor, shaft and diamond blade for a lapidary saw, but no lapidary structure of any kind. I was wondering what the best way would be to make it... presentable? It is in rough shape but there are nice colors in it and I think it would clean up nicely. Here are images of the top view to get an idea of how big it is, then a couple side views to get an idea for how tall it is. It looks as if it were once a rather considerable size, but alas, it has seen better days.
