I am wondering about getting a stone recut. Is it possible to get a 10mm round recut to 9mm trillion and what will the carat loss be aprox? Gia report number 2248751409.

For me it is to hard to determine positively based on a 2D image and the limited size information. Looks to be a Brazilian style cut with a very shallow crown and somewhat deep pavilion. I would say yes based on size only and would estimate you will probably be in the 2.6 to 3 carat final stone weight and probably the latter and as well as the style of trillion your looking to get. But this could all change once actually in hand and visually inspected and measured. My first thought is why would you it looks like a very nice gem as it is.

From the picture on the report, the stone seems to have several fractures inside. Quite dangerous to recut.

Yes, you should be able to get a 9mm triangle out of that stone. I agree with Greg's weight estimates.

The inclusions in the stone don't look like an issue to me.

Of course everything is subject to inspection of the actual stone.

That is a huge amount of weight loss for the stone. Unless you are buying it at the price of rough I think there are more effecient ways to get a similar colored Paraiba Tourmaline in the size and shape you want.

Also just want to point out that this stone is not really round but close when it comes re-cutting that is, and as the report states as being an oval.
