I can't overstate the benefits of immersion when one is trying to seperate natural from flux inclusions. |

Agree. Those look like potentially flux inclusions to me. |

What you should do with immersion technique: The liquid used should be methylene iodide. The scope used should be horizontal. Kruss, Eickhorst. You must be able to turn your stone 360º withing the immersion vessel. Flux inclusions, with immersion, will remain black in all directions. Similar looking natural inclusions will blink when rotated. |

Thank you VERY much. Your too kind. This was very helpful. These inclusions in question did not show black in immersion. |

were you able to rotate the stone 360º? |

Post subject: | Re: Natural Ruby |
yes, i rotated the stone directly and rotated the entire container with the stone in it. The inclusions stayed "white" the entire time |

Barbra, Thank you very much for all your help. I'm gonna have to pass on this stone as I'm not comfortable with the results/testing that I'm seeing. I have advised the customer to get additional testing. Sometimes you have to know your limits and admit that you don't know everything. Thanks again for all you help. |
