Is this a secret society? They do not have a web page and when I searched for them on the internet I could only find references to them.
Gubelin Lab's web page did have a sort of page for them:

http://www.gubelinlab.com/lmhc.asp

Information there is brief at best. It lists companies that are members, but I can't help but wonder why are they members and other companies are not.
Who decides?

There are 7 sheets listed, are they for this year or they all that they have come up with so far?

Since this is the closest thing I can find for some sort of standardization committee for gemstone nomenclature I just want to know who they are or at least something about the group.

Various gem sites refer to LMHC findings regarding various decisions or rulings as if they are the final world. Are they?

Hi Roberta,
The LMHC is not a secret society. You can find information about it on the following website:

http://www.lmhc-gemology.org/

Recently two members joined the committee: The Central Gem Lab from Japan and the DSEF Lab from Germany.

All the best,
