Dear friends, I know that this forum is not really about pearls, but well, I would like nevertheless to invite you to visit the expedition report I just put online on fieldgemology.org regarding the recent visit I did to a cultured south sea pearl farm in Mergui in December 2007: http://www.fieldgemology.org/Gemology%20burma%20myanmar%20mergui%20pearl%20south%20sea.php I hope that you will appreciate the visit as if we found out that Mergui produce some interesting pearls, we were really touched by the Mergui people: All the best, |

Thank you Vincent! They are some pearl lovers in this forum, I promise you. Very informative article about Burmese pearls and today's production. I enjoy the update as there is so little on Burmese pearls nowadays. I had no idea that Tasaki played such a big role there too. The gold pearls are magnificent and the food ( I love seafood) must have been delicious.... And so fresh from what I could see in your gorgeous pictures. The geography is stunning. |
