Hello,

I have been reading bits of this forum from time to time, but this is my first post. I'm sort of a gemologist, I suppose. Much of what I have learned comes from reading, nagging folks at gem shows, a colored gem course at AIGS (Bangkok) and a couple of semesters at Rancho Santiago CC .. all this, many years ago.

I have bought very few gems and have sold even fewer. ;)

Back in '94 I traveled to Rangoon .. didn't make it to Mogok. Have spent some time at the markets in Chantaburi, Maesai and Maesot.

I am fascinated with concave cutting, although I'm a bit too old (69) and shaky to learn lapidary.

I would really like to have an extensive and detailed conversation with someone who really knows and has done lots of concave cutting .. so if you are that person .. prepare to be nagged! :)

:D welcome to the forum, asia-gems!! another new member, snjohri, mentioned that he is interested in concave faceting, too. 8) please be sure to check out our lapidary section on the forum, too, it's a great section on the forum, with some very talented and nice people to discuss and learn from when it comes to faceting!! there also has been a lapidary section added to the forum's gemology project, which you will find a link to the project on the left-hand side margin of the forum.

glad to have you with us!! :D
