Hello All,
I've been lurking GO for a few months now and decided it was time to introduce myself. My name is Bryan Wiebe and I was introduced to the art of lapidary only spring of this year. I ran across a post made by your very own Flameswithin made on a website called reddit. He had uploaded a series of photos with descriptions of him faceting a "hanami" by Marco Voltolini and I seriously couldn't look away. I can clearly remember my immediate reaction was "this is a thing? I can be doing this?!" Until then the words facet and lapidary may as well have been a foreign language. Anyway, I immediately got to googling and it turns out "yes, yes this is something I very much could be doing!"
Since then I purchased a used Graves IV (the only faceting machine for sale in my city I'm fairly certain) and have been teaching myself what to do with it through the knowledge shared right here on GO. I picked up a few laps from Gearloose after a few weeks of failing. Oh my god the difference they make! I put in an order for a few more last weekend, can't wait! I hope to be sharing something on the "off the dop" thread soon!
