I took a Russian language course many years ago and did quite well, but had no one to talk to . Then, of course, I was sent overseas ... to Okinawa . Really had no one to talk to then!

I found a survival job at the factory. My russian gemological diploma is not valid here. I will need a lot of money to get a GIA diploma. I also don't have money yet to buy lapidary equipment. Anyway it's better than in russia. But i get very little money from my job.

Timur, I'm glad you found a job, but I wish it was a better one. I'm glad you are enjoying the culture in Canada. I would think that Russian Gemological Credentials would be some of the best in the world! I would hope someone would give you the opportunity to prove it.
Are there any lapidary clubs in the area to join? Or perhaps some gemmological organizations that have meetings you could attend?
Thank you Barbra. I live 100km away from Winnipeg in a small town. No meetings here. And it's too far away to go to Winnipeg for a meeting. I buying jewelry making equipment little by little to start a small businesss....

It looks like our little piece of Canada is well represented on this forum. Who woulda thought! I'm in Manitoba also! Energyos, you're currently living in my home town. Oddly enough I'm going to be selling my place in Winnipeg and moving back home within a few months to joint the family business. I know a lot of people in the area as well so if I can help you find some work with better pay, I will.

Are you gemologist or a gems cutter?
Energyos,
I've been cutting gems since last spring. I'm at the 30-40 finished stones mark. I'll post some pictures in the "off the dop" thread that I've had since summer but have been too shy to post.
I'll be moving to Winkler in April of this year. I look forward to getting the chance to meet you!
My news: 1) I got a better payed job (will start on Feb 11th).
2) I am starting my small business. I added 530 wedding rings 3d CAD .stl files for sale to my website. I also added some information about myself to the website http://www.energyosjewelry.com I also got some rough for sale it's also at the website. I am waiting for the battery for my Nikkon camera to make macro photo of 6 faceted demantoid garnets I got from my partner about 1 carat size each.
3) I made a nice sterling silver ring with rough opal (the picture is attached)
