I can finally congratulate you, and us, on our one year anniversary! My keyboard spacebar quit, and the computer wouldn't recognize the wireless after another power outage. So I only had the mouse to work with and could only come read all the posts for over a week now; very frustrating not being able to join in and reply. I'm SO glad to be able to finally say thank you very much for this forum, and all you do for us, so

CONGRATULATIONS BARBRA!!! =D>

...and may we enjoy many more anniversaries with all these wonderful friends. :smt111

Thanks again everyone, but let's be real.

The reason this forum is a success, is because it has attracted the greatest group of gem enthusiasts on the planet!

Sure, it was my idea to throw the party, but if you all hadn't shown up, it could have been a seriously dismal affair!

The credit goes to YOU!

Yee-hah :D :!:

Kudos, Barbara!

Since I usually don't get involved with new products until they've been tested long enough to work out the bugs, how ironic that this is my first posting, here. For those who don't already know me, I'm a gemcutter, goldsmith and educator in the Boston area, and have joined this list/forum as a means of both increasing my knowledge base, and adding to those of others, whenever possible. Richard Wise recommended I sign on, earlier this morning, so here I am. From what little I've been able to glean from the archives, this group should be a comfortable fit!

Welcome Doug! I'm glad you're here. You're on of the people who make me read a little more carefully on the USFG list -- I'm looking forward to your insights here.

Speaking of which, there's a discussion in the Faceter's Corner you could likely lend some insight to. Check out the string about the "best machine" currently on the market.

regards,

peter

Hi Peter and 'africanuck',

Thanks for the compliments! As for the site's content: no, no one's been hacking me! I've been trying to find time to replace those 'dummy' listings for almost two years, now, and am thinking I'm just going to need to hire someone else to do it, because there's simply not enough of me to go around! Between my roles as dad, husband, designer, author, faceter, carver, cabber, goldsmith, and experimenter (hey, it's the only way any of us ever moves forward, right?), there's barely enough time to eat and sleep, much less program. Can either of you refer someone my way, on that score? (i.e. know of anyone in the Greater Boston area?)

P.S. -- How do I mount my avatar here, beside my entries? I tried to do so in the profile setup page, but I don't see it, here, even after shrinking it to the size required. Suggestions for a well-intentioned Luddite, anyone?

Welcome, Doug! This is a great group, so you've found a good home. I'm glad you took Richard's advice and signed on! :D
