Hi all,

The gemology project needs proofreaders on any level (students to experts) to review the pages that are written.
We would really like to hear from you how we could improve the joined venture and welcome any critics on it. Also if you have good information that is missing (and that is a lot!), please don't hesitate to click on the "submission" links and type away.

The gem project can not survive without all your contributions (small and/or large).

Hi Doos,

By proof-reading do you mean merely checking grammar, spelling etc - rather than content.

If so I'd be happy to help - but I think we both know I would't be much good on the content side

One suggestion for the project pages - a next button at the bottom of each page - if there is one I haven't found it, and keep having to return to the TOC to change page.

Hope you get lots of better offers than mine - but I'm happy to be a last resort.

Talk to you soon,
Love gemmsong :smt079

Hi Gemmsong.
YOU are hardly a last resort.
Not only can you proofread something to make sure it doesn't have any errors, but there are a million gemstones that have no information about them.
Pick one that interests you and add a few sentences. Where do you get the info? Your memory, your books, periodicals, etc.

We are interested in any and all information about the gems:
lore and legend
metaphysical
chemical, optical & physical
locations
pictures
charts
historical information

Jump right in.

Hi Barbra,

As usual you are a lovely, classy lady, and I appreciate your support.

But you have to know your limitations - one day hopefully I will be in a position to add content to the project - but not yet.

I'm happy to help with starightforward proof reading, or any other suggestions.

My design ideas are flowing, at the moment - can't keep up - infact I've got several project ideas I'm really excited about - but it's not really gemology.

Anything I can do to help, I'm happy to - just don't expect miracles.

I looked up the link you posted to your shop - absolutely stunning - I've been meaning to post about it all week, but I've been a little swamped. But I promise I'll write soon - such beauty can't go unmentioned.

Talk to you soon,
Love gemmsong :smt079

ps I just got a new book on slugs - if you want any info for the project, just let me know
Did you know slugs are from the same family of molluscs, those poor little creatures they harvest pearls from
To err is human; to slime, sublime

Hi,

I was actually probing for critics on how the pages are written and the layouts.
When you are a fairly new to gemmology: are the "basic" articles understandable and presented well?
Or if you are more advanced, do the "advanced" sections provide you with good information?

Of course if you spot a typo, let us know. But we have very capable people going over that already.

If you feel something is lacking, please add to the topic.

Not only that, but if any of the pages at whatever level you are at leave you scratching your head and going "what????????" please ask about it, it will help us make it easier to understand for everyone who comes after you.
