Visiting Mogok guarantees a captivating experience in what is still a largely unexplored region of the country.

The five-day, four-night AIGS Mines and Markets Tour provides a rare opportunity for students, professionals and interested amateurs alike to gain first-hand experience of Mogok's legendary ruby, sapphire and spinel deposits, and nearby markets.

AIGS Chairman Kennedy Ho will be the leader for this field trip.

Itinerary

The group will convene at Mandalay Airport around mid-day on Day 1:

Day 1: At 12.30 pm the group will set off on a six-hour drive from Mandalay to Mogok.

Day 2 - Day 4: The group will visit traditional, open-pit and tunnel mines, as well as all the local markets.

Day 5: At 4 am the group will set off on the drive back to Mandalay.

Terms and Conditions

The price of the tour is $1,700 per participant ($2,000.- for single occupancy), which includes mine access, local driven transportation, accommodation (3 star hotel, double occupancy), food, insurance and, in the rare event that it should be required, emergency evacuation.

Please note that the above fee does not include transportation fees to the initial meeting point at Mandalay Airport. In addition, it is each participant's own responsibility to organize and pay for their entry visa into Myanmar, should they require one. Also not included are alcoholic drinks.

In the very rare instances where unforeseen political or environmental issues may endanger the safety of participants and staff, AIGS reserves the right to make changes to the pre-announced dates and/or schedule.

If the government of Myanmar grants us permission for the mine tour, we will inform students one month in advance. In the case that permission is not granted, the tour fee will be refunded (minus bank charges).
