Here we have another update on gem treatments from Joel Arem. Gem treatments are always a touchy topic. The skill lies in interpreting complex issues in laymen terms. I think he was spot on. Check out the link http://www.colored-stone.com/stories/ma ... tments.cfm

well, i read the article after taking 2 aspirin (only kidding). it was worth reading the article considering the questions which needed to be answered since the colored-stone article, "the diffusion debacle," and even addresses the questionable treatments of tsavorite and tourmaline.

he does his best to explain to the reader many concepts which should possibly be considered when it comes to gemstone treatments.

Should a scientific paper present notes/references? I would have appreciated that. But that perhaps only applies to me.

i agree with you, demantoid. he credits dr. emmett and john white for their "editorial comments and invaluable suggestions" for the (scientific?) article, but, no listing of references except for the terms used from the dictionaries. the editor's note before the article is kinda confusing (or maybe it's better to say-confusing to me. )
