Decided to participate in the AIGS month long course Synthetics and treated gems ID. I must say it is an exciting and well worth while course for a GG or one completing their work at AIGS. They do have prerequisites to consider. The course is for one with a comprehensive command of gemology at the onset. To date we have enjoyed an in depth and very detailed breakdown of unheated vs treated corundums. The latest advances in Ruby treatments as well. This is a hands on course with microscope. Currently teaching Jayesh Patel with an abundance of knowledge and excellent command on this topic

Likewise and I really feel lucky to make time for this. I understand many of the same study gems are those from the days of Richard Hughes, Vincent and other gemology icons as well as recent study digs. Well worth it and one can have 2 to 5 star hotel choice with the schools location in the heart of gems district Bangkok. Gems for breakfast and pad thai for lunch.

Hi,

Synthetic and treatment course at AIGS has been the best and the most interesting subject in AG program. I love teaching it and students enjoy learning it. It's a good hands on experience as Dan very rightly said looking at so many stones of different kinds of treatments old and new.

Thanks Dan for the nice comments. Phad thai for lunch is good but can not beat south Indian crispy dosas.

Take care.

Jayesh.
