I have a few items that I no longer use and may be of value to someone new to faceting. Rather than giving them away to the first person to respond I would like to see if any new cutters would be willing to take a shot with a short quiz.

The prizes:
"The art of Gem Cutting" by Dr. H.C. Drake, "Facet Cutters Handbook" by Edward J. Soukup, and a Fac-ette Gemstone Faceting DVD. The DVD is specific to the Fac-ette, but it still is useful to someone new to cutting. I will also include "Gem Trails of Arizona" as a bonus.

The rules:
Identify the gems numbered 1 - 19. Whoever gets the most correct and is one of the first 5 participants gets the stuff. These are fairly common gemstones. If there is a tie the first person with the most correct wins. I will ship for free to anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Have fun with the quiz ... the photo is a quickie, but should be good enough for this. I just grabbed what was sitting on my desk this morning and did a quick group shot.

Im not a faceter yet but I love Quizes! And that is a very nice idea!
I´ll take a try too and I´ve put in some strange guesses so I maybe hit at least one of the traps you layed out ;-)

Sorry for the delay, but it was CRAZY BEAUTIFUL in Minnesota yesterday! Have to enjoy those days when they are available in the land of snow and ice. :D

Everyone who sent in answers did very well, but Egor was the most impressive with only 3 wrong which going off of a photo is the best you can expect. Looking for a cheap way to get the stuff to Spain ...

I think the practice of "eBaying" stones for my collection was very helpful for this quiz, it's a good training to see lots of gem photos.
