I suppose it is supposed to be a star, a planet or the moon.
But... none of the planets are really blue. (Mars is distinctly red).
Venus is the only planet that comes to mind that is named after a goddess. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn were all gods. The Moon has a man in it, but Diana is the goddess of the moon. I guess also Selene. But Selenite is very much NOT black.
And moonstone is definitely NOT black. Rigel is a blue giant, but that doesn't help as "Rigel" is not a goddess
Congratulations to dchallener, barbra and nathan for solving the riddle!
I (neptunite) am as dark as the night (deep black), from the depth of which (night) the lady in blue (neptune) reminds me of a god (neptune) that binds us both (by his name)
Indeed, planets are named after gods, and for its characteristic blue color, neptune was named after the roman god of the sea...from the depth of the night the lady in blue reminds me of a god...
Neptunite is occasionally cut as a gem:
Neptunite is well known of minerals collectors as one of the most aesthetic black minerals around, and for beautiful associations with benitoite:
