Just a short 3 questions: just for fun

1 Robert Shiply founded the GIA

When and where did he receive his training?

2 Robert Shiply JR. helped develope 4 gemmological instruments

What were they?

3 IN 1935 the first man made diamond simulant appeared and was said to fool 99% of the experts.

What was it and where was it made?

1. Probably in England at Gem-A.

2.
-Shipley universal immersion stage
-Rutland polariscope
-diamond colorimeter
-refractometer
-gem microscope

3. Synthetic spinel (Verneuil) from the USA (Jourado diamond), the scare started in Englend.

HI doos:

1: yup shiply was the first graduate of the British Gemmological Assosiation in 1929.

2: right

3: yes Synthetic spinel (Verneuil) is the right synthetic but my notes show that it was made in Germany in 1935.

Hi,

I'm sure it is a more reliable source than mine as I was basically guessing.
