I liked Tim's Spauwen's idea so I decided to try one myself. I don't really have any cut stones yet so this will have to do.
What are we? We are both different. We are both colorless but can be the same color when we do have color. One of us is called "three appearances" in another language. The other ones first "home" is now covered by houses in the U.S. and it wants to be a diamond but resembles topaz more. Any guesses?

top right: colourless spodumene aka triphane?
bottom left: that one has me stuck at the moment. Looks to be orthorhombic... can be coloured like the other so would be pink, light purple, green, yellow-green, yellow, brown or orange-brown... hmmmm... the locality thing doesn't help this European fella a whole lot... (fumbling through some books)... would it be the town of Danbury?
