hey folks,
got this email from Tom Overton:

Dear eBrief Readers,

Thank you to everyone who sent in answers to the November G&G eBrief Brainteaser. We received 66 entries, of which 44 correctly identified the inclusion: a gas bubble in flame fusion synthetic sapphire. As a few sharp readers correctly pointed out, this inclusion is diagnostic of the manufacturing method, not the material itself, so “flame fusion [or Verneuil] synthetic” was enough.

Congratulations also to Azita Amirebrahimi of Tehran, Iran, who was randomly selected from amongst the correct entries to win the 1 GB flash drive.

Thanks again for your support, and we hope you enjoy next month’s eBrief, due to be released Dec. 7. Remember—this is the final free issue. Only Gems & Gemology subscribers will receive the eBrief in 2010.

There is something really weird about those numbers. 66 entries, 44 correct leaves 22 which is one third of 66 and one half of 44. 44 is 66.66666 % of 66. I'm no mathematician or numerologist but it gives me the heebeejeebies.

I just hope they don't get in trouble for shipping something like a thumb drive to Iran...

Hi

Yes those numbers are scary right , but i think maybe , like i did the 1st email i sent what the inclusion was but it said what the inclusion was and what it identifies . so like me i had to resend the answer with both , so it maybe , hopefully the reason

Congrads to the winner =D>
