for those who do not yet have any 'worst stone' in their collection, I can supply rough andalusite for cabbing, which I can guarantee 100% opacity with perfect toilet paper color. And I can supply it for less than a smile per carat!

Very funny. Now I'm on the spot. What's even funnier I suppose is I have plenty to choose from!

hee hee, didn't mean to put you on the spot. It's actually kind of funny that you think those were horrible stones, and commercially they are and always will be, but for some reason I'm a really big fan of stones that you can see the color zones in the crystal structure. I AM NOT a fan of sandpaper quality corundum being faceted and called sapphire or ruby. :smt003

I've been a "Rockhound" since the early 1990s. True Rockhounds don't have any worst stones. We have leaverites. These are the stones any normal mineral collector would look over briefly and choose to "leave her right" there. Rockhounds not only pick them up; they show them off as great finds. :-)

Im with Bob, there are leaverite's and crapite's, crap-ite is a leaverite you thought was a keeperite till you got home and looked closer. The crap-ite is then tossed out in the hot vegas sun scorched rock-scaperite to season a while!

Im posting a pic of a good example of a bad ruby-cost me $3700.00, but the seller has an anchor on his business & it seems to be working as a warning to other buyers to be careful-stevie...
