This is one of my favourite opals in our collection. it is a picture stone showing the Effiel tower. Can you see it? Reminds me of sitting in the Parc du Champ de Mars looking at the Effiel tower! Beautiful

What do you ate last night Barbara? ah ah ah ;-)

Tell us a little more about this opal.
What is the black component. It looks dendritic.
Is it natural or the result of treatment?
Where was it found?

The Eiffel tower wasn't the first thing that came to mind...

Looks like Queensland boulder opal. Hayricks Mine? Very nice!

Hey, an Eiffel Tower is just a giraffe designed by a committee

Clever and perceptive image, Tim.

ROM is close, it is a Queensland Boulder stone but it came from Jundah. About 250km's away from Quilpie. The opal has no teatments applied at ll. It is completly natural.

I am not sure what the black is. I always just assumed it was common potch opal without the play of colour. Now that I am half a gemologist I should try and figure it out

haha Tim, when I show this stone people either see a tower or a dragon. Never a giraffe before. hmmm maybe I can market it towards Africans now, thx
