Cool. It's definitely not lapis or larimar as I'm sure you know, but it does have some interesting form to it. Is it something you've spotted locally? I wonder what it could be. |

Kinda reminded me of Mossy Creek Glassy Furnace Slag or Leland Blue. With a little research I discovered the Molo Graphite Project, Green Giant Project and the Toliara Mineral Sands Project all of which have active refineries in Toliara, Madigascar. Possible blue slag? |

I wonder if the cabochons have just a blue skin, like the rough pieces do, or if they're blue through and through? |

Jason Barrett wrote: I wonder if the cabochons have just a blue skin, like the rough pieces do, or if they're blue through and through? The rough appears to have a tan skin over solid blue. The patterning doesn't have the wavy flow lines I think of in leland blue. But it is odd. |

Start with some basic tests, H, SG, reaction to acids. Do you know anything about exactly where it came from? Any pieces with matrix or associated minerals? |
